One Exhausting Adventure

I have arrived in my new home, Kensington, the place where I have always felt at home :) After a long bit of traveling I am pleased to be settled in for 6 weeks! I am going to rant about my flight for a bit of entertainment, if you don't care about my qualms with United, please feel free to skip ahead after the next paragraph.

Alright folks I'm gonna be honest I actually really like flying, the OCD part of me loves all the rules and regulations, but today it became a love hate relationship. After boarding the flight on time and getting my self settled into the in flight movie I was starting to see th minutes pass and for some reason the plane wasn't moving? What's up with that? A apparently Friday night is rush hour so we just Taxi'd for I guess an HOUR and a HALF. I'm a pretty patient person but to be stuck at the window seat for 6 hours already that extra time just sucked! By the time we finally took off I was starved!!!! It was like I hadn't seen food in years even though it had only been since I had a Nathan's hot dog in the airport! So I'm sitting waiting for food and I just keep waiting and waiting and when they finally begin to serve it they of course run out at my row and have to go get more, then being a frequent flyer I knew to order the vegetarian option for my own safety. Luckily for me the meal wasn't actually that bad, it just reminded me of high school cafeteria food. Then of course I ate at the speed of light and began to choke, not a deadly one (obviously) but nonetheless a bit of coughing. But lucky me the married couple sitting next to me chooses to ignore me and the drink cart is 4 rows ahead, so I just stuff a roll in my mouth to prevent certain death and miraculously that did the trick. And of course in the middle of me finishing dinner the person in front of me puts their seat back, am I the only person in the world that never does that? These planes already only have enough leg room for a hobbit! Oh well, the only shining moment would be the entertainment system on my chair that only requires you to tap each button thirty times before it does what you're asking it to :)
Okay so I spent a fair amount of my first day sleeping. Jet lag definitely got to me and after a short walking tour of Kensington and lunch above Whole Foods, I took a little nap. Then I went to meet up with my friend Sam, who is doing Semester and Sea and he would only be in London for a few days. We walked up through Kensington Gardens ( my absolute favorite spot) and saw the Kensington Palace and took a picture with the Peter Pan statue!

Then came the most exhausting part, getting lost for 2 hours in an area that I had never been in. Somehow from Kensington Gardens we ended up in Marylebone, trying to find fish and chips (which apparently isn't served after 5pm in the 5 or so pubs we went to) We ended up at Bok Bar, which was thai food. We still ordered Fish and Chips, which tasted fine, but turned out to be not the best idea. Needless to say I had a rough night and before that it took us about an hour to find our way back.

I woke up feeling a little bit better! We went to orientation and heard some horror stories from a police officer! Then it was time for our sightseeing bus tour! Our tour guide, Sean, was absolutely hilarious and he showed us all of the big sights. We walked around St Pauls Cathedral, drove by Trafalgar Square and Big Ben and took some pictures next to Tower bridge!

After the tour we went back and hung out for a bit then had dinner at the Goat Tavern, which was founded in 1692! I ate dinner in a building older than the country I live in, pretty cool! I had hummus and pita because my stomach is still pretty nauseous! Oh well, then we all hung out in the common room for a bit and now I'm hoping to get a good night's sleep so I'll feel better for my first class tomorrow morning!

Night all!
