Time Just Keeps on Flying By

Being back from Paris has turned out to be the most exhausting thing ever. I have never needed so much sleep! It reminded me of Finals week, and most conveniently this was finals week here as well! So this week wasn't super eventful, it was more of a nice relaxing week in London, and that was exactly what I needed.
On Monday morning I woke up early and decided to purposefully get myself lost in Kensington Gardens. If you are a regular reader of this blog, you would know it would probably be hard for me to get lost, but I managed to go in a completely new way. I kept taking different turns and ended up on the other side of the river! It was a beautiful experience and I made it 5 miles before having to go to class.
After class we all worked on our papers before heading to our Monday spot of My Old Dutch. I'm sure it's very surprising to you all that I got a Smoked Salmon pancake, but this week I also got a Kinder Beuno milkshake! It was a little disappointing because it was really just a vanilla milkshake that they had thrown a Kinder Bueno bar in. For those of you who don't know a Kinder Bueno bar is a candy bar in Europe that I think is a cross between a Twix bar, a Kit Kat bar, and some sort of Nutella like substance. It's a wonderful candy bar, but the milkshake was just mediocre.

Tuesday after class we went on a Royal Walking Tour. This was a fascinating walk around the city and I was able to learn some very interesting information about all of the Royal family. We got to see where the Royals buy their 100,000 pound hats, and get casts made of their feet for custom shoes. Must be a rough life. We then went to Sports Cafe, our typical Tuesday night spot and had a lot of fun dancing, I ran into my friend Julie from childhood, so that was a pleasant surprise! We got to ride the night bus home, and I rode on the upper deck, so cool!
Wednesday my friends and I decided to use our one skip day from class and do some book exploring. We went to an outdoor book market at South Bank Centre and it was really cool! So many good books I had to restrain myself! We ate lunch at Giraffe, and I finally got to fulfill my craving of Sweet Potato Fries! Also the Falafel burger was a delightful reminder of my favorite Israeli food!

We decided that one book market wasn't enough so we ventured to Leicester Square to hit up a street full of bookshops. We had a great time perusing at least 10 bookstores, and some music stores as well. I was able to restrain myself for the most part until we went to the Young Adult sections and I got to see all the UK covers. I could not stop geeking out, I may or may not have hyperventilated. GUYS Books are my life, and there is seriously no question about that anymore. Yeah bookstores are officially like crack for me, I'm gonna need some help. Also there were children's books about becoming a princess with Kate Middleton on the cover…..I almost bought one...

Anyway we kept walking through all of the incredible stores, and I did buy a copy of City of Bones by Cassandra Clare because I was lucky enough to get a ticket to meet her this Saturday at London's Comic-Con. Hopefully I will get her to sign it!
We stopped into Chinatown so I went to the bakery and picked up a cream roll! It was just lovely!

Then we got a bit of work done in the dorm and Emily and I decided to head to the Gardens. We sat on a bench and read our respective books and just enjoyed the beautiful weather. Then we stopped at Whole Foods because we had a serious vegetable craving. I got the most incredible pre-packaged salad, which is basically what I would make myself at home, but three weeks without it basically made it the most delicious thing ever.

Thursday was our last day of class discussion and we talked about Harry Potter. You would think that would have been heavenly, but with people fighting over such and such and not even reading the book I just sat there and took it all in. Afterwards we got ready for our big Boat Party for the 4th of July. We had an awesome time out on the water and really enjoyed the views at sunset. I didn't bring my camera, so iPhone pictures don't do it justice but oh well.

After we got off the boat we were starving at stopped at Burrito Cafe. Guys I really miss Mexican food….like so much it hurts. That burrito made it all better…for a few hours anyway.

This morning we woke up and took our British Fantasy Writing Final! Woo it's over! It wasn't so bad, and the class was really interesting. Afterwards the whole class and the professor went to the pub to relax. I got a side of baked mac and cheese and then tasted my friend Taylor's Sticky Toffee Pudding. I had been warned by my father that Sticky Toffee Pudding was amazing, but that doesn't even begin to describe this sumptuous dessert. It was like the skies had opened up and the sun smiled down on the soft caramely dessert of the gods. Yeah I'm pretty sure 90% of this blog is about what I eat, not sorry about it :)

Tonight we decided to sit out in the gardens and read again (obviously my favorite activity) We had such a relaxing evening, in preparation for such a busy week! It was 75 and sunny so we were obviously pleased!
Until next time folks!
Love,
Alexa
